Social Emojis

Starship Troopers: Extermination + Squad

This project involved close collaboration with the community team to design a broad set of custom emoji art for Starship Troopers: Extermination and Squad. The emoji sets were designed to foster player engagement across Discord and social media, reflecting in-game humor, popular culture references, and recognizable memes. Each emoji was designed to match the unique visual language of its respective game, incorporating iconic characters, enemy types, and community catchphrases. The result was a collection that resonated strongly with both casual and core fans, becoming widely adopted and shared throughout the player base.

Starship Troopers: Extermination

In a humorous twist on the gritty sci-fi tone of Starship Troopers, the visual identity for Bugs & Kisses 2, a fictional dating sim revealed as part of an April Fools event, was developed in collaboration with Offworld Industries. The work included the entire visual presentation: logo, mock title screen, UI elements, and a fully illustrated “gameplay” screenshot depicting a romantic exchange between a trooper and a bug. The concept parodied both dating sim tropes and iconic moments from the Starship Troopers film (notably the infamous shower scene), delivering a nostalgic and tongue-in-cheek surprise for the fanbase. The joke was supported by a web presence and Steam post, making it a memorable April Fools moment for the game’s community.

Squad 44

For Squad 44, a dramatic and visually convincing April Fools concept centered around a fictional WWII-era kaiju event was executed. The project involved crafting a fake “archival photo” depicting an enormous monster attacking Allied and Japanese forces in the Pacific Theater. Historical aesthetics – grainy textures, typewritten documents, and military redactions – were incorporated to ensure authenticity while subtly inserting the fantastical element of a towering kaiju. The final visual, which appeared in a fabricated intelligence report, struck a balance between absurdity and realism, earning positive reactions from fans who appreciated both the creativity and the homage to vintage war reporting.
